Who are we?

Atlantic Medical Center Atlantic Medical Center is a nonprofit, community-based organization that has provided primary and preventive health services to the residents of Barceloneta, Sabana Hoyos, and neighboring towns since 1986. The center is governed by a Board of Directors made up of community leaders and patients of the center, which responds to the needs of the community it serves.

Operating under Section 330 of the United States Public Health Service Act, the center operates through federal funds, private plan funds, and funds from Puerto Rico's Vital health plan. These funds are aimed at providing and facilitating access to health services.

The health services offered are guided by strict performance standards that promote access to preventive care and a high quality of medical care. Since 2003, the center has met the requirements set out by, and holds accreditation from, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Likewise, since 2013, Atlantic Medical Center has been accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), which recognizes it as a Patient Centered Medical Home.This means that services are delivered following standards of coordinated care, quality, and evidence-based care that set us apart from other primary-care institutions.

Atlantic Medical Center is an entity covered under the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA),which provides the legal compensation mechanism for individualswho have demonstrated they suffered personal harm due to negligence or error by an employee.
